Welcome!
"AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research."
AAUW has been one of the nation's leading voices promoting education and equity for women and girls since 1881. With more than 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 550 college and university partners, the men and women of AAUW are dedicated to advocacy, education, and research on both national and international levels. In fact, AAUW Educational Foundation provides $4 million in fellowships, grants, and awards to women and community action projects worldwide. The Legal Advocacy Fund, a subsection of the Educational Foundation, provides additional support and funds for women involved in lawsuits against sexual discrimination in education.
AAUW also enjoys a partnership with people from all cultures and backgrounds: "In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class." This commitment has encouraged AAUW to promote the arts and humanities and has given the organization many opportunities to encourage cultural diversity and development within communities worldwide.

AAUW is an organization of action. Our volunteers are involved in grassroots and public policy issues at the local, state, national, and international levels. As a team, branches work to support a system of public education that promotes gender fairness, equity, and diversity; self sufficiency for all women; and equality, individual rights, and social justice for a diverse society. Being a member of AAUW provides an opportunity to make a difference in our communities and in our world.
